To begin the tribute, please read the lovely poem written by Michele Page, Rabbit Caregiver at Best Friends Animal Society. Michele helped to care for over 300 of the Reno rabbits when a group came back to live out their lives in sanctuary at Best Friends. The poem was written after a difficult loss of one of Michele’s little buddies. Art work is by Kurt Robinson.
A New Day
Remember me friend, companion of mine.
I have now returned to the great divine.
Free of pain, no worry of fuss,
I’ve caught that thing called the Rainbow Bus.
I smell the flowers along the way
and see a in a distance a few friends at play.
I leave behind memories of a happy past,
only now to realize these too shall last.
I run and run as fast as I can
and will always remember the touch of your hand.
A man in a robe
greets me with glee
and takes me from pain
to finally be free.
